My Yahoo!

If you're a longtime My Yahoo! user, you'll notice that the new My Yahoo! looks a lot like the old one.

The biggest enhancement to My Yahoo! is the addition of thousands of new sources of content. My Yahoo! now uses RSS to bring you over 150,000 content sources from around the Web.

What is RSS?

RSS stands for "Really Simple Syndication." It's a way that web sites and blogs can use to send updated headlines to you via services like My Yahoo!. You can select content from a variety of RSS sources, and My Yahoo! displays it for you in one convenient location.

Syndication means you don't have to visit each site individually to see what's new -- you simply scan headlines or brief article summaries and click to read the full text. That's the "really simple" part. And it's "really simple" for publishers to make their content accessible this way too.

Yahoo! News and RSS Feeds - The Future

Using RSS Feeds you can totally customize the news you receive.

Say you want to keep up with news on "RSS". Go to Yahoo News. Do a search on RSS. When the results are shown, check the right hand column. There are two buttons.

The My Yahoo! button will automatically add the RSS feed to your 'My Yahoo!' page.

If you right click on the 'XML' button and click "Copy Shortcut', you can add the feed to your RSS reader.

Or in this case, I added it to the bottom of this page. Everyday, this page automatically updates with the latest news from Yahoo! and it is all on topic. And the updates are search engine spider friendly. No Javascript!

Once you learn my simple system you can add feeds to your site in less time than it takes to find them.

I explain it all in easy to follow, step-by-step procedures in my book, The RSS Mystery Solved.
